When you face challenges in life, you’re given a choice: you can let them consume you, or you can choose to see them as opportunities to learn, to grow, and to become better. That second path isn’t always the easier one, but time and time again, it’s been the one that has shaped who I am and defined the direction of my life.
The first home I ever bought came with a slew of surprises: a gas leak nobody caught, a water line that flooded half the house, and a pool with a ripped liner that needed to be replaced. As first-time buyers, it was a lot of money right out of the gate. Our agent had rushed us through the inspection process and didn’t care what happened after closing. I remember thinking, someone should do this better. Why not me?
That instinct to start something of my own was largely influenced by my mom. She came to this country from Mexico with a strong work ethic. She taught herself English, became a US citizen, got her license, and built her own housekeeping and catering business that she has been running for over 30 years.
We didn’t have a lot, but we made do with what we did have. Her sheer will made one thing clear to me: You can achieve anything, but you have to be willing to work hard and overcome challenges.
As I got older, I worked for my mom, spending days inside beautiful homes, experiencing what different spaces felt like and how they were designed. And after buying my first home, and going through all troubles my late-husband, Ryan, and I faced, I was ready to get into real estate. And Ryan fully encouraged it. He was a businessowner with a salon, so he understood what it took and really believed in me. But when I told my mom, she fought tooth and nail that I stay in college. So I stayed in school while starting my real estate career.
The first six months were rough. I was young and I looked even younger. Nobody wanted to take a chance on a kid. Facing that challenge right out of the gate forced me to find a way to add value. To do that, I poured my energy into education and learning everything I could to better serve my clients.
What I discovered along the way was how much I genuinely loved the work and the people. From helping first-time buyers who need someone to really hold their hand through every step, to guiding investors building generational wealth one property at a time, to being there for families moving up, moving on, or starting over—I get to be a trusted resource, advocate, and guide through all of it. The best part is building relationships with people and remaining in their lives long after closing. That's what hooked me. After my first few deals it snowballed, and I never looked back.
That love for service became clearer than ever when I lost my husband, Ryan in 2022. I didn't have time to process my grief—suddenly it wasn’t a dual-income household anymore, so I had to work very hard to keep our home, pay our bills, and survive. But through that humbling and incredibly hard experience, I gained a clearer understanding of what matters most to me and what I wanted my impact to be.
That same year I became president of the Oklahoma City chapter of PFLAG, an LGBTQ+ support organization. I also served as president of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), spending three years pushing for better educated agents who were there to truly serve their clients, not just get a commission check. My focus is to create a legacy of service through my community involvement and work in real estate.
Now, I’m in a great place in life. I’ve overcome a lot, but it’s made me stronger and given me a clearer vision for my future. In 2024 I got engaged to my wonderful fiancé, Derek. We have three dogs, enjoy playing pickleball, and are planning trips to see all the national parks. We also love spending time with our families.
When I’m working with clients, I take a simple approach: I treat every transaction like I’m selling the home to my mother. That means going above and beyond to create not just a successful outcome, but a great experience from start to finish. I’ve mowed lawns, crawled under houses, and found creative compromises to keep deals together. I’m always willing to find creative solutions to help my clients.
The truth is, problems and roadblocks will come up. They always do in a transaction because there are so many moving parts and details that need to perfectly align. What matters is having someone in your corner who is willing to step in, get their hands dirty, be resourceful, and figure it out. That is what I promise to you.
But it is not just about effort. It is about execution. I bring strong market knowledge, consistent communication, and a proactive approach to every step of the process. From pricing and marketing your home, to negotiating strategically on your behalf, to navigating inspections, timelines, and unexpected challenges, I am there to guide you through it with total transparency and my professional expertise. My goal is simple: to make sure you feel informed, supported, and taken care of every step of the way, while delivering the best possible result.
Sincerely,

Scotty Hernandez
